CROSS COUNTRY RACE 4
On Thursday 10th February 18 pupils ventured over to the Vineyards for the penultimate race of the cross country season. It was pleasing to see the pupils are still enthused with the prospect of cross country, which I often tell them is one of the most challenging sports to take part in! I can honestly say I was excited beforehand and confident that the teams would do well; the boys’ team in particular was looking strong with many regular runners alongside with new comers Edward Godzisz,
Danny Arnall, Jordan Henney, Patrick Kavanagh-Shields and new arrivals in Y5 Sam and Jake Graef. For the girls it was Emma Fletcher’s first run of the year.

The boys raced first and set off at a fierce pace. Martin Burley again produced a fine performance to finish third with new comers Edward Godzisz and Sam Graef also finishing in the top 15 – an amazing performance! Moreover, Fred Leggett improved on his previous best position by over 20 places.
The girls also set off at a fast pace. Jade Gundy was looking in trouble at the half way point but battled back to finish in a superb 16th position. Bravery and determination (a quality Mitton pupil’s have demonstrated throughout the season) was shown by the three other girls Emma Fletcher, Maisie Brown and Eleanor Godzisz.
Well done to all who took part, you did your school proud! I. Guffick
